Preparing for Australia's future: The MTA WA joins European EV study tour

Both the State and Federal Governments are talking more about electric vehicles, and work is progressing on a National Electric Vehicle Strategy that will shape Australia's EV future.

With EVs garnering more attention, the six CEOs of the Motor Trade Associations across Australia formed a delegation that travelled to Europe to talk to regulators around their EV policies. The purpose of the 'study tour' was to gather accurate data from the nations that are considered market leaders when it comes to EV adoption and to bring home learnings to assist Government in setting and achieving sensible EV targets.

The delegation returned home this week having spent three weeks examining market-leading EV strategies, new technologies and the impacts of the automotive industry's transition in Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom.

After meeting with local industry bodies, leading manufacturers and businesses, the Associations have gained significant insights which will prove invaluable in shaping evidence-based policy and supporting member businesses as Australia transitions towards a zero and low-emission vehicle (ZLEV) future. Findings will be developed into a report, and the Associations will soon commence their briefings with Government and industry.

The MTA WA looks forward to sharing further information with members in due course.
