Department of Transport (DoT) licensing charges and fees for the 2021/2022 financial year.
Fees
The fee for a duplicate or certified copy of a vehicle licence document or tax invoice has reduced to $3.40.
The following fees are increasing from 1 July 2021:
• Light vehicle licence charges have increased by 4% (Licence Fee and Motor Injury Insurance (MII) premiums). No increase to the Recording Fee.
• Transfer Fee from $18.40 to $18.90.
• Licence Administration Fee (formerly Bulk Licensing Fee) from $13.10 to $13.30.
• Ordinary Plate Fee from $28.60 to $30.50.
• Trade Plate Permit Fee from $41.70 to $44.00.
• Plate Fee - Trade Plate for Dealers (Plate fee code D) from $26.00 to $26.80.
• Vehicle Modification Permit $73.00 to $73.80.
• Some optional plate application fees have increased.
A 2.5% increase to heavy vehicle licence fees will apply to:
• new heavy vehicle licences issued on or after 1 July 2021; and
• the renewal of heavy vehicle licences expiring on or after 30 June 2021.
Note: The ‘Payment Due Before’ date on heavy vehicle renewal notices indicates which fees are applicable and indicates when the renewal comes into effect rather than the licence expiry date.
Vehicle examination fees have increased for all regional areas, except for the Engine Change Fee (for like-to-like engines), which has been abolished.
Fees are published on the DoT website using the online Fee Finder.
