Congratulations to our GTO apprentice Jacob Zurzulo – who recently represented Western Australia at the Brisbane Truck Show!
Jacob was flown interstate after embracing the opportunity to compete in the 2023 Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) National Apprentice Challenge.
The opportunity arose when the Head of Programs at the TAFE that Jacob attends - contacted MTA WA Field Officer Paul Harvey, recommending that his apprentice, Jacob, be put forward as a candidate for the HVIA competition.
Mr. Harvey promptly approached Jacob’s Host Employer, Swan Transit (Karrinyup), who was very supportive, with Workshop Manager Joel Eltringham, flying interstate to support Jacob during the competition.
Jacob’s advice to prospective apprentices is to lean into the learning experience.
"Listen, follow and observe your leaders who have done apprenticeships before. They will guide you the best they can. I wouldn’t have it any other way. A career in the heavy diesel industry is simply amazing," he says.
Well done Jacob, we are all proud of you.
