On Saturday August 20, the Motor Trade Association hosted an outstanding event at Crown Perth’s Grand Ballroom, in celebration of the automotive industry’s most notable achievements and achievers. This prestigious ceremony was presented by Master of Ceremonies Oliver Peterson (6PR Host) and attended by over 430 guests from diverse backgrounds. Everyone from business owners to automotive technicians, political members, and leaders, were in attendance.  This resulted in a fantastic atmosphere and a room that glowed with class, enthusiasm, and gratification.
The night began with a spark – a sentimental compilation to Coldplay’s “Sky Full of Stars” lit up the screens, highlighting each of the finalists across this year’s award categories: Apprentice of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Small Automotive Business of the Year, Large Automotive Business of the Year and Automotive Woman of the Year.
In addition to the above categories, was the introduction of a new award, which was created the by MTA WA Board to honour an individual who has dedicated a minimum of 15 years’ service to the automotive industry with a legacy as an outstanding ambassador, mentor and contributor.

The 2022 Award winners were:
  • Jarred Teraci, RAC Auto Services – Apprentice of the Year
  • Westside Auto Wholesale – Innovator of the Year
  • Wade Fleet Maintenance – Small Automotive Business of the Year
  • Eagers Automotive – Large Automotive Business of the Year
  • Amanda Lombardi, Lombardi Brothers – Automotive Woman of the Year
  • Doug Kerr, Shacks Motor Group – Industry Recognition Award

The night went on to feature entertaining performances from comedian Peter Rowsthorn and the energetic band  - Murphy’s Law. A variety of interesting memorabilia was also on display at the awards, with all silent auction proceeds donated to the wheelchair solutions charity, ‘Wheels for hope.’
With over 90 submissions received for the six award categories in 2022 – the MTA WA team very much look forward to the certain influx of high-quality nominations and another sold out event in 2023.
