DEALER BULLETIN 06/2021

Introduction of Electronic Funds Transfer for Refunds

Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) is introducing alternative methods of issuing refunds to complement the broader refund reform agenda. Customers will now have the option to apply to receive driver and vehicle related refunds via an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).

Process

The person applying for the refund must be the holder of the driver or vehicle licence, or a representative of an organisation.

Customers must provide their bank account details on the Application for Refund (C2) form, which has been amended to include the option to receive an EFT refund.

EFT refund applications can only be submitted in person at a DVS centre or via Dealer Support.

Only Australian bank account numbers with a valid BSB number will be accepted. The following bank account types cannot be used to receive an EFT:

· Overseas account

· Credit card account

· Loan account

· Mortgage account.

Note: Payments cannot be made via EFT if the nominated account has restrictions on EFT deposits.

The option of EFT will not be available for refunds relating to deceased estates.
