6PR interview regarding Electric Vehicle (EV) summit - Stephen Moir and Oliver Peterson

Excerpt:
"Australia makes up 1.5% of the world's market, on car manufacturing (we sell about a million cars a year). The Albanese government have cited research that suggests that we could be at 89% new [EV] car sales by 2030, which just doesn't match up. Norway have got a ten year start on us with ten years of heavy incentives to get people into them and they are just hitting at 86% [EV uptake] but they're the best country in the world." - MTA WA Group CEO Stephen Moir.

Oly asks, "of those Million cars sold in Australia in a year, what's the slice of the EV market in Australia at the moment? Pretty small?

Stephen responds, "It's about 2% but here's the big problem Oly; 59% of cars sold in Australia are large SUV's or dual cab utes and the top three selling cars in Australia right now are dual cab utes. There is not an option on the market that is going to meet that need."
